Recent research has shown how important a whole body viewpoint is in treating musculoskeletal types of pain, especially if we want to address the cause of the pain.
A critical component in assessment at Total Care Podiatry is analysing the dynamic function, that is; how your body moves in your sport, especially running. High speed, high definition video of a person running on our treadmill, combined with software that measures joint angles, provides a good understanding of symmetry and timing issues. It also allows for comparison of the effect of different treatments and how you are progressing.
While angular and timing analysis provides important information, it's the force your sport generates and places on your feet and legs that can cause injuries and effect how long the tissues take to heal and the rehabilitation process. In other words how long it takes to resume running or for you to be back in the game.
To analyse walking we use our 6 metre long, high-definition pressure measuring platform and we now have our new, specially designed treadmill from Italy that incorporates the same high definition pressure plate as the 6m walking platform! This is unique in our region and allows an even better understanding of your gait, with all the benefits of digital technology.
Objective plantar pressure analysis also allows us to share the information with other health professionals involved in your care, as well as your coach or other key people.
At Total Care Podiatry our assessments include such tests as lunge, squat; (double and single), hop, jump and balance. We are now integrating the Mat Assessment Tool, developed the Functional Movement Group so we ensure the information is highly accurate and repeatable, as well as being in an understandable format to share with other health professionals so everyone is on the same page and focused on getting you better, fast.
We provide total care by combining our many years’ experience and expertise in functional biomechanics with physiotherapy to ensure we accurately analyse and diagnose the cause of your sporting injury, identify the contributing factors and address them to get you back into your activity as quickly as possible.
